Uinta’s equine program is the most purposeful and comprehensive equine program in residential treatment. They seek companionship and must find their place in the herd’s social structure. When a teen spends time with a horse, they must assess and figure out her relationship with their horse while the horse figures out the relationship as well. How a teen manages this process often mirrors their relationships with other people.

I cannot thank the staff at Uinta enough for the care and love that they showed to my daughter. She was 12 when she arrived at Uinta and was there for 21 months. They were open and honest with us at every step of her journey and I have immense trust for their team. The staff treated her like family and helped us to become a family again. After years of struggle, we determined that residential treatment was the best option for our daughter. As hard as this decision was to make, it is one that I do not regret.
